Faculty Lead for Tucson Loves Music immersion learning projects

I was selected as Faculty Lead for an Eller Partnerships Office Immersion Learning Program project with Tucson Loves Music.

The project connects University of Arizona undergraduate and graduate students with Tucson Loves Music to support event discovery from hundreds of disparate websites and related data infrastructure work. My role is to serve as a faculty advisor and subject matter expert for the student team, bringing together applied natural language processing, information extraction, data normalization, and software engineering practice in an experiential learning setting.

Phase 2 update

On August 13, 2025, I was invited to continue as faculty advisor for Phase 2, "Tucson Loves Music Event Discovery from Hundreds of Disparate Websites," running from August 25, 2025 through December 19, 2025. The Phase 2 role includes guiding and coaching the student team, leading weekly meetings, and helping the team complete the project according to its statement of work.
